In a forest lush, where the trees stood tall,
Lived Emerald Frog and Ruby Bird, best friends above all.
Emerald Frog loved his home in the marsh,
While Ruby Bird sang from the branches, so harsh.
One sunny day, Ruby Bird spread her wings,
Flashing red feathers in beautiful rings.
Emerald Frog watched, his heart sinking low,
“Oh, how I wish, I too could show.”
A splash of jealousy tainted his heart,
Why couldn’t he too, have a glamorous part?
He was just green, a frog in the mud,
Unlike Ruby Bird, the forest’s bud.
The days passed by, and Emerald Frog,
Watched Ruby Bird, from his murky bog.
His heart ached, his joy turned sour,
Under the shadow of Ruby’s bower.
One rainy day, as thunder rolled,
Ruby Bird shivered, in her nest cold.
She couldn’t fly, she couldn’t play,
While Emerald Frog leaped, come what may.
In his marsh, under the leafy dome,
Emerald Frog enjoyed his home.
He splashed and sang, in the rain so free,
His emerald green, a sight to see.
Ruby Bird watched, a pang in her chest,
“Emerald Frog, you truly are blessed.
To play in the rain, to jump so high,
Oh, how I wish, I could touch the sky.”
Emerald Frog heard this and was surprised,
For he’d always thought, Ruby was prized.
They both had beauty, they both had grace,
Just in their very own special place.
From that day on, jealousy lost its glow,
In the heart of Ruby, in the heart of the frog.
They admired each other, they admired themselves,
In the forest of harmony, where friendship dwells.
So, little listener, as the moon takes flight,
Remember the tale of Ruby and Emerald’s plight.
You are special, you are unique,
In your own way, you are chic.
Don’t let jealousy, darken your day,
You’re a gem, in your own special way.
Just like Ruby Bird and Emerald Frog,
We all shine, even in the thickest fog.
The end.
