Ten little tired toes remember sunshine, soft blankets, kitty fur, warm milk, and Mama's hand before one tiny toe peeks out to say goodnight.

The day is over now.
The sun has gone to sleep behind the hills, and in a warm little room, ten little toes are tired.
Ten little toes, all in a row.
They had such a big, big day.
hush… hush…
This little toe reached for the sunshine this morning.

It stretched way, way up toward the window, where the light came pouring in.
Warm sunshine on one little toe.
mmm…
These little toes wiggled under the soft blanket.

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle.
The blanket was fuzzy and warm, and the toes did not want to come out.

But they did.
Because the day was waiting.
These little toes felt the kitty's fur.
So soft.
So gentle.
The kitty purred and purred.
purrrr… purrrr…

And these little toes curled up tight when the milk was warm and sweet.
Happy toes.
Cozy toes.
glug… glug…
But this littlest toe, the tiniest one of all, did not do anything today.

It just stayed close.
All day long, it stayed right there, near Mama's gentle hand.
And that was enough.
Now the blanket comes up, soft and slow.

One little foot tucks in.
tuck…
The other little foot tucks in.
tuck…
Ten little toes, warm and snug, all hidden away for the night.
Well… almost all.
One tiny toe peeks out from under the blanket.
Goodnight, little peeking toe.
Goodnight, ten little toes.
Sleep tight until the morning sun comes back to play.
hush… hush… hush…
