High above the town, inside a soft gray cloud, lived two little raindrops.
One was a boy named Rainy.
The other was a girl named Raina.
They were best friends.
One cool autumn morning, the cloud began to shake.
“Are you ready?” asked Raina.
Rainy peeked over the edge.
Below them, the trees were red, orange, and yellow.
“I’m ready!” he said.

Plip! Plop!
Down they fell.
Rainy landed on a big yellow leaf.
“Wheee!” he laughed as the leaf rocked from side to side.
Raina landed on a red leaf nearby.

Suddenly, a gust of wind came.
Whoooosh!
The leaves lifted into the air.
Rainy and Raina went flying through the park.
They flew past squirrels collecting acorns.
They flew past children in colorful rain boots.
They flew past a little hedgehog hiding under a pile of leaves.
“Autumn is busy!” laughed Raina.

At last, their leaves floated gently to the ground.
Rainy rolled into a tiny puddle.
Splish!
Raina rolled in after him.
Splash!
Soon, children came running.
SPLASH! SPLASH! SPLASH!
Their boots jumped right into the puddle.
Rainy and Raina bounced high into the air.
“This is fun!” shouted Rainy.

Later, the sun came out.
The wet leaves sparkled.
A spiderweb shone with tiny drops.
The trees looked golden in the warm light.
Raina smiled.
“Rainy, look how beautiful everything is after the rain.”

Rainy looked around.
There were shiny chestnuts on the ground.
Pumpkins sat by the houses.
Birds hopped between the fallen leaves.
And somewhere nearby, someone was baking something sweet.
“Mmm,” said Rainy. “Autumn smells good too.”

The warm sun slowly lifted Rainy and Raina back into the sky.
Up, up, up they floated toward their cloud.
“What was your favorite part?” asked Raina.
“The puddles!” said Rainy.
“I liked flying with the leaves,” said Raina.

Then they looked down at the colorful world below.
Autumn had rain.
Autumn had wind.
Autumn had crunchy leaves, puddles, pumpkins, and golden trees.
Rainy smiled.
“I hope we can come back tomorrow.”
Raina giggled.
“Oh, I think we will.”
And from the little gray cloud came two happy voices:
“See you soon, autumn!”
Plip… plop…
