Today, Mia is going to the zoo.
“Hello, animals!” she says.

First, Mia sees a tall giraffe.
“Hello, Giraffe!”
The giraffe munches green leaves.
Giraffes have very long necks so they can reach leaves high in the trees.

Next, Mia sees a big elephant.
“Hello, Elephant!”
The elephant lifts its trunk.
Elephants use their trunks to drink, smell and pick things up.

Then Mia hears a loud sound.
“ROAR!”
It is a lion!
The lion rests in the warm sun.
Lions can roar very loudly.

Nearby, a funny monkey swings from a branch.
“Hello, Monkey!”
The monkey climbs up, up, up!
Monkeys are very good climbers.

Then Mia sees a penguin waddling by.
Waddle, waddle, waddle!
Penguins are birds, but they cannot fly. They are wonderful swimmers instead.

At the end of the path, Mia finds a sleepy hippo in the water.
“Hello, Hippo!”
Splash!
Hippos spend lots of time in water to stay cool.

Mia waves goodbye.
“Bye-bye, giraffe!
Bye-bye, elephant!
Bye-bye, lion!
Bye-bye, monkey!
Bye-bye, penguin!
Bye-bye, hippo!”

What a lovely day at the zoo!
And what amazing animals Mia met.
The end 🙂
