Filip the Little Ant and the Bubble

Filip the Little Ant and the Bubble: Filip the little ant rides a glowing bubble beside Junie the bee above a sunny playground.

Chapter One: Filip’s Very First Big Day

Once upon a time, deep down in the soft brown earth, there was a busy little anthill. And in this anthill lived hundreds and hundreds of ants who worked from morning until evening, from when the sun woke up until the moon came out to play.

Ants are the hardest workers in the whole wide world! They carry things, they build things, they clean things, and they love it. Oh yes, ants love to work more than anything else! They sing little songs while they march in long, wiggly lines: “Tip-tap, tip-tap, little ant feet, finding yummy food to eat!”

In this anthill lived a tiny ant named Filip. Filip had just finished ant school that very week. He had learned how to count crumbs, how to lift things ten times bigger than himself, and how to wiggle his antennas to say hello. He had a shiny new backpack and very clean little ant shoes.

Every day, the bravest ant in the whole anthill, an old ant named Maldo, went on a very special trip. Maldo would march all the way to the big school playground, where children played and laughed and ate their snacks during the long break. The children always dropped LOTS of crumbs: bits of bread, pieces of cookies, tiny crumbs of muffins. Maldo would bring all this food home to the anthill, and everyone would have a yummy dinner.

But one morning, oh dear! Maldo woke up with a sniffly nose and a tickly throat.

“Ah-ah-AH-CHOO!” sneezed Maldo. “I am too sick to go to the playground today.”

The Queen Ant tapped her chin and looked around. Her eyes landed on little Filip, who was polishing his new shoes.

“Filip!” she said. “Today YOU will go to the playground!”

Filip’s antennas wobbled. His little ant knees shook. “M-m-me?” he whispered. “But I’ve never been there before!”

“You can do it, little one,” said the Queen kindly. “Just follow the path, and remember everything you learned in ant school.”

So off went Filip, with his tiny backpack on his back. Tip-tap, tip-tap went his little ant feet, but his heart went thump-thump-THUMP because he was so scared.

When Filip finally reached the playground, his eyes grew BIG. There was a giant climbing frame as tall as a tree! There was a bench as long as a river! And there were children EVERYWHERE, laughing and running and eating their snacks!

Filip the Little Ant and the Bubble: Queen Ant sends nervous Filip from the busy anthill on his first big trip.

Filip hid behind a little blade of grass. “Oh no,” he whispered. “I don’t know what to do. Where do I start? How do I collect the food?”

Just then, he heard a happy little buzz-buzz-buzz above his head.

A friendly bumblebee landed right next to him. She had fuzzy yellow stripes and the kindest smile.

“Hello there, little ant!” she buzzed. “You look a bit lost. I’m Junie the Bee! Are you new here?”

“Y-yes,” said Filip. “It’s my very first day, and I don’t know what to do!”

“Don’t you worry one tiny bit!” said Junie. “I see Maldo here every day. I’ll show you exactly what to do! First, you look for the biggest crumbs near the bench. Then you carry them one by one back to that little hole over there. And the most important rule is…”

But Junie never finished her sentence.

Filip the Little Ant and the Bubble: Filip meets Junie the friendly bee near a giant playground bench.

Because at that very moment, two little girls sitting on the bench were blowing bubbles. Big, round, shiny, rainbow bubbles! And one EXTRA big bubble floated through the air, getting closer and closer to Junie…

“BLOB!”

The giant bubble swallowed Junie right up! There she was, floating inside a sparkly bubble, her little wings stuck to the sides!

“HELP! HEEEELP!” buzzed Junie. “ANTS! HELP MEEEE!”

Filip gasped and waved his little arms. “Oh no! Oh no! Junie!”

Filip the Little Ant and the Bubble: A giant rainbow bubble gently traps Junie the bee while Filip looks up in surprise.

But then… Junie stopped wiggling. She looked around. She looked up. She looked down. And then a great big smile spread across her fuzzy face.

“Wait a minute…” she giggled. “I’m… I’m FLYING! And I don’t even have to flap my wings! Hahaha! This is the comfiest ride I’ve ever had!”

The bubble floated up, up, up into the sunny sky, with Junie inside, waving down at Filip and laughing.

Filip stared with his mouth wide open. His little antennas wiggled with surprise. He had never, ever seen anything so funny in his whole little ant life!

Chapter Two: Filip’s Bouncy Bubble Adventure

Filip watched Junie float higher and higher in her shiny bubble, giggling all the way. “Wheeee!” she buzzed from up in the sky.

Filip’s little ant heart went thump-thump-thump, but this time not from being scared. This time it was from being EXCITED!

“I want to fly in a bubble too!” he whispered.

He looked up at the big wooden bench. It was as tall as a mountain to a tiny ant like Filip. But Filip was brave now. He took a deep breath, puffed out his little chest, and started to climb.

Tip-tap, tip-tap, climby-climb!

Up he went, up the big wooden leg of the bench. When Filip finally reached the top, he gasped. Right there sat the two little girls with a small pink bottle of bubble soap and a magic bubble wand!

One of the girls dipped the wand into the bottle. Bloop! She held it up and blew softly.

Whoooosh!

Out came a HUGE rainbow bubble, bigger than a hundred Filips! It wibbled and wobbled in the air, all shimmery and sparkly.

“This is my chance!” said Filip.

Filip the Little Ant and the Bubble: Filip climbs the huge bench and discovers the pink bubble bottle and wand.

He scrunched up his little ant legs. He wiggled his bottom. And then… BOING! He jumped as high as his tiny legs could jump!

But oh dear! Filip didn’t land INSIDE the bubble like Junie.

He landed right on TOP of it!

Boing! Boing! Boingy-boing!

The bubble was bouncy like a trampoline! Filip bounced up in the air, then landed on the bubble again, then bounced even higher!

“Wheeeee!” laughed Filip. “I’m bouncing! I’m bouncing on a bubble!”

Just then, Junie’s bubble gently popped with a soft pop! and she fluttered her wings down beside Filip. She giggled and giggled at the bouncing little ant.

“Filip, you silly ant! Hold on, I have an idea!”

Junie buzzed up to the little girls and waved her fuzzy arms. The girls noticed the friendly bee and the tiny ant bouncing on their bubble, and they laughed with delight.

“Look! They want to play!” said the first girl.

The girls were so charmed that they began blowing bubble after bubble, all around the playground. And Filip bounced from bubble to bubble, like a tiny hopping star!

Boing! Boing! Boing!

But while Filip was bouncing, something magical happened. Every time a bubble floated past a crumb on the ground… slurp! The crumb went right inside the bubble!

A piece of cookie went slurp into one bubble!

A bit of banana muffin went slurp into another!

A tiny corner of cheese sandwich went slurp into a third!

Soon there were lots of shiny bubbles floating in the air, each one carrying a yummy crumb inside!

Filip’s eyes grew BIG. “Junie! Look! The bubbles are collecting the food for me!”

“Quick, Filip!” buzzed Junie. “Hop on! Let’s go home!”

Filip the Little Ant and the Bubble: Filip bounces from bubble to bubble while crumbs float inside the shiny bubbles.

Filip jumped onto the top of the biggest bubble. Junie grabbed another bubble with her little bee feet. And all the other bubbles followed behind them like a happy little parade.

Off they floated across the playground, over the green grass, past the daisies, all the way back to the anthill!

“Look at me, look at me!” laughed Filip. “I’m a flying delivery ant!”

When they got close to the anthill, all the other ants came marching out. Their little antennas wiggled with surprise.

“Look!” cried one ant. “It’s Filip!”

“And he’s flying!” shouted another.

“On BUBBLES!” gasped a third.

Filip floated down gently, and pop! pop! pop! — all the bubbles popped softly, dropping the crumbs right at the door of the anthill!

The Queen Ant came hurrying out. She looked at all the crumbs. She looked at little Filip. She looked at the kind bee. And then she smiled the biggest smile Filip had ever seen.

“Filip!” she said. “This is the most food anyone has EVER brought back in one trip!”

Filip the Little Ant and the Bubble: Filip and Junie lead a parade of food-filled bubbles back to the anthill.

All the ants cheered and clapped their tiny ant hands. “Hooray for Filip! Hooray for Filip!”

Even Maldo peeked out from the anthill, wrapped in a tiny blanket. “Well done, little Filip!” he sniffled happily. “You did even better than me!”

Filip’s little ant face turned pink with happiness. He had been so scared this morning. But now he had a new friend, lots of yummy food, and everyone in the anthill was cheering for HIM!

That evening, all the ants had the biggest, yummiest dinner ever. There was cookie and muffin and sandwich for everyone! Junie stayed too, sitting right next to Filip, sharing a tiny piece of banana muffin.

“Filip,” said Junie, “you are the bravest, bounciest little ant I have ever met.”

“And you,” said Filip, “are the very best friend a little ant could ever have.”

As the moon came out and shone down on the cozy little anthill, Filip closed his sleepy ant eyes. He thought about his big day: how scared he was in the morning, how he met Junie, how he bounced on bubbles, and how he came home a little hero.

And from that day on, every time the children blew bubbles on the playground, Filip and Junie would be there, bouncing and buzzing and laughing together. Because the best adventures always start with a little bit of bravery, a kind new friend, and maybe… just maybe… a magical bubble.

The End 🐜🫧🐝💕
