Evening settled over the hill. The sky rubbed its purple eyes.

A soft blue yawn slipped out of a little cloud.
Aaaah.

It floated past the roofs and brushed a cat on the windowsill. The cat blinked slowly.
Mrrr-aaah.
The yawn bounced to the doormat, where a dog curled his tail around his nose.
Wooo-aaah.
In the field, the cow folded her legs under the moonlight.
Mooo-aaah.
On the pond, a duck tucked one foot into her feathers.
Quaa-aaah.

The tiny yawn rose higher and higher until it reached the moon. The moon smiled and grew softer at the edges.
“Good night, little yawn,” whispered the moon.

The yawn drifted home on silver air. It tapped the window twice.
Tap, tap.
Mama opened the curtain and smiled a sleepy smile.
Haaaaah.
Baby snuggled deeper in the blanket.
Aaaaah.
The little yawn curled up beside the bed, smaller than a sigh.
The house was quiet. The animals were quiet. Even the moon was quiet.

Shhh. Everyone is asleep.
