Our Halloween Pumpkins 🎃

It was Halloween week at preschool.

Miss Hazel brought a big basket full of pumpkins.

“Today we are going to decorate pumpkins!” she said.

The children were very excited.

“Can we cut them?” asked Maisie.

Miss Hazel smiled and shook her head.

“Pumpkin knives are for grown-ups. But I have something special for you.”

She gave everyone a big black marker.

Miss Hazel gives the children black markers for safe Halloween pumpkin decorating.

“You can draw anything you like!”

Maisie drew a funny pumpkin face with two big eyes and a wiggly smile.

Otis drew a little spider with eight long legs.

Zara drew a friendly ghost.

“Boooo!” she giggled.

Milo drew a black bat with wide wings.

Pippa drew a witch’s hat.

And Rory covered his pumpkin with tiny stars and moons.

Soon, every pumpkin looked different.

Some were silly.

Some were spooky.

And some were very, very funny!

Miss Hazel put all the pumpkins together by the classroom window.

“Look at our Halloween pumpkin family!”

The decorated pumpkins sit together by the preschool window like a Halloween pumpkin family.

The children clapped and smiled.

They didn’t need knives to make wonderful Halloween pumpkins.

All they needed were pumpkins, black markers…
