The Fox and the Moon 🌙🦊

In a quiet forest, on a cool and starry night,
a little fox named Fenn went for a walk.

The Moon shone softly above him,
round and bright like a lamp in the sky.

Fenn walked to the pond to take a sip of water.
But when he looked down…

…he saw the Moon smiling back at him!

“Oh!” whispered Fenn.
“There are two Moons!”

The Moon in the sky smiled.
The Moon in the water smiled too.

Just then, tiny fireflies floated out of the grass.
They blinked and twirled around Fenn
like tiny yellow stars.

Fenn giggled and tried to follow them.
The fireflies danced faster.
Fenn trotted after them with his fluffy tail swishing.

When the fireflies settled,
Fenn sat by the pond again.

“Moon,” he asked,
“are you in the sky… or in the water?”

The Moon’s voice was warm and gentle.
“In the sky,” said Moon.
“The pond just makes a picture of me.”

Fenn nodded slowly.
“A night mirror,” he said.

Moon smiled.
“That’s right.”

Fenn walked across the grass
with the Moon watching over him.

The forest was quiet.
The stars twinkled.
The fireflies blinked goodnight.

Fenn felt cozy and calm.

Fenn curled up beside the pond,
right where the grass was soft and warm.

“Goodnight, Moon,” whispered Fenn.

“Goodnight, little fox,” whispered Moon.

The fireflies dimmed their lights,
the pond grew still,
and the whole forest went to sleep.

The End
